I have been soaking up the times of reading and rest and ‘just being’ without an agenda or plan. Holiday mode cultivates such a good feeling. But then coming back to everyday life of planning and working and doing feels like such a stark contrast on my nervous system. Much of my yoga is about inviting the feeling of ‘being’ into my ‘doing’. This is a great challenge and only possible when I honour a daily self-practice. During the holidays I get to really indulge in my own practice without having to mix in my teaching plans and thoughts so it becomes a true act of self-care. This understanding and prioritising of self-practice is on of the main focusses that I wish to activate in those who attend my classes and events this year.
My teaching year seems to be inviting a great deal of creative collaboration with other teachers. I’m delighted to be teaming up with some incredible beings including Donna Farhi, Cameron Tukapua, Lynda Miers-Henneveld, Karla Brodie and Naomi Dakin. Watch this space for more details.
Below are some upcoming options for you!
Events with Donna Farhi
I feel absolutely honoured to be teaching with Donna Farhi on the Teacher’s Retreat at the Suryalila Yog Retreat in Spain this June. If you are not able to make that one(!) and live here in New Zealand you may be interested in Donna’s 5-day Workshop in Auckland, 12-16th April, which I’ll be assisting on. Called ‘Coming Back To Our Senses’, it is a rare opportunity to learn from an exceptional world class teacher and develop your interoceptive powers and learn therapeutic and somatic practices to meet your own needs.
Nourishing Roots Weekend in Nelson
Chinese Medicine and Restorative Yoga combo. You Nelsonians may like to indulge in the Nourishing Roots weekend, on February 23rd-24th, lead by Cameron Tukapua. The weekend will combine her deep knowledge and experience of Chinese medicine with my Restorative Yoga practice offerings. The course offers 7 clear steps to deeply nourish your inside Self through spiritual self-identity teachings and guided reflection. Learn how to engage your constitutional strengths and nourish the true essence of yourself and others. There are 5 places left so book now on Cameron’s website if you are interested.
The Friday Restore
I’m excited to be offering ‘The Friday Restore’ at 5.30pm on Fridays at Wellness Movement. I am sharing the teaching of this class with my wonderful colleague Naomi Dakin. Naomi will teach the first class on February 1st and I will do the following week February 7th. We will take turns for the rest of the term. See the flyer below for more details.
