Be inspired to rest deeply by watching this little video that I made with my brother in the UK on a wintery afternoon; an organic process trying to describe visually what Restorative Yoga feels like.

Living in the South Island of New Zealand I don’t get much contact time with my teachers but I do get to experience the great beauty of the natural world and changing seasons all the time. I spend a lot of time outside, walking and biking and playing with my children and when I’m stuck in my practice all I have to do is observe what’s happening in the landscape all around me. As we head into winter, the ground is covered with dead leaves, revealing empty branches and a cold stillness. I can feel my animal body seeking sleep and warmth. Nature has become my guide and this season turns my focus towards quieter, more restful practices. I go into the shadows knowing that the ongoing seasonal cycle will bring me again into the light.

If nature is your teacher, your soul will awaken.
